01 EU New Regulations: EN 18031 Certification Becomes Key to Market Access
The European Commission adopted the supplementary delegated regulation (EU) 2022/30 in 2022, explicitly requiring radio equipment to meet cybersecurity, privacy protection, and anti-fraud requirements.
In January 2025, the EN 18031 series of standards was officially included in the RED Directive harmonized standards list. Starting from August 1, 2025, all radio equipment exported to the EU must comply with the cybersecurity requirements of RED Directive Article 3(3)(d)(e)(f), otherwise they will be prohibited from entering the EU market.
EN 18031 certification is no longer an optional item but a mandatory pass for products to enter the EU market.
