AFIC + GDM Monitoring System in Settlement Monitoring of Qingdao Port
Background of project
Hydraulic structures of port wharf, especially gravity-type wharves (or wharves with gravity-type shore connection structures), usually have displacement and settlement during construction and operation, which will adversely affect the safety and normal use of wharf projects. Therefore, it is very necessary to monitor the deformation and settlement of wharf. Finding problems through monitoring and providing deformation data of the wharf in time are necessary measure to ensure the safety of planning, design, construction, and operation of water transport projects, also ensure the safe navigation of ships.

The reconstruction project of automatic settlement monitoring in Qingdao port wharf includes settlement, displacement, inclination and cracks monitoring of multiple subjects. In view of the settlement monitoring problem of the port wharf, we design a scheme with our array flexible inclinometer and monitoring GNSS receiver for Qingdao port wharf. After many discussions and assessments of the actual situation, our technicians and relevant departments successfully complete the installation of monitoring instruments.

Scheme of settlement monitoring
In this project, we designed a comprehensive solution for Qingdao port wharf with our flexible inclinometer and monitoring GNSS receiver. This scheme can help to realize 3D monitoring for displacement change, which can accurately comprehensively monitoring the settlement change for the wharf.

Monitoring Device: Huasi Array Flexible Inclinometer
Huasi Array Flexible Inclinometer is a flexible and standard 3D measurement system. The principle of array flexible inclinometer is to reflect the angle between the corresponding axis and the gravity direction by measuring the data of gravity acceleration in different axes through the accelerometer, and calculate the displacement of the corresponding length rod through the change of the angle.
It can be bent freely and can be installed in vertical, horizontal or Arc. It’s widely used in real-time monitoring projects such as slope sliding, tunnel convergence, road subgrade settlement, building construction,etc.

Monitoring Device: Huasi GDM Monitoring GNSS Receiver
With the continuous improvement of GNSS system and software performance, GNSS is more and more widely used for high-precision engineering measurement and engineering deformation monitoring. Huasi Monitoring GNSS Receiver is a highly integrated GNSS receiver, which is based on the combination of Beidou GNSS positioning technology, MEMS sensor technology and photography technology. It has multiple practical functions, such as threshold triggering function, cloud service function, low power consumption design, and camera panoramic photography. It can be equipped with four cameras to take panoramic photos at any time to check the surrounding conditions and observe the surrounding environment of the monitoring point, which can be used for daily troubleshooting.
At present, Huasi monitoring GNSS receiver is widely used in a variety of real-time monitoring projects, such as dam slope, mine slope, geological disasters, etc.

Installation of monitoring instruments
The settlement monitoring points of the port wharf shall be selected at the positions that can reflect the deformation characteristics of the deformed body and facilitate monitoring, and shall be lay out near the horizontal displacement monitoring points. For example, the turning angle of each part of the wharf cushion cap, the wharf shore connection, the lifting platform, etc.
